How TechEnhance Won Its First Managed Services Project in the USA

Client Background

A California-based swimming pool construction company with a complex business application built using PHP, Node.js, Vue.js, Python, and hosted on AWS.

The Challenge

The client’s existing vendor was expensive and difficult to work with.
They wanted a vendor who could manage their live production setup, reduce infrastructure costs, and offer long-term stability — but without risking any downtime.

However, there were no handover documents, no KT, and no access to the outgoing vendor’s team — making the transition incredibly risky.

To protect their operations, the client said:
> “We won’t replace the vendor unless you can prove that you can manage the environment yourself.”

Our Approach

We agreed to take up the challenge — despite the risk.

  • Step 1: Built a new AWS environment from scratch and redeployed the entire multi-tech stack.
  • Stack included: PHP, Vue.js, Node.js, Python — all deployed and made production-ready with zero formal KT.

Obstacles:

  • Missing documentation
  • Multiple environments
  • Vendor lock-in tactics
  • Delays due to trial-and-error learning

Client Response: They understood the complexity and were patient and supportive, trusting us to work through it step by step.

“Honestly, everything has been great so far. I am impressed that your team was able to review the application setup and get a new instance up and running as promised, especially given the difficulty in not having direct communication with the existing team.”

Additional Insights

During our analysis, we discovered:

  • The tech stack was unnecessarily fragmented — likely to create long-term dependency on the previous vendor. (Our internal view: a simpler Node.js + React setup would have been more maintainable.)
  • Several unused and high-cost AWS services were running, inflating monthly spend.
We helped clean up the infrastructure and optimize cloud resources, reducing overall costs.

The Outcome

  • Gained the client’s confidence through execution, not promises.
  • Successfully onboarded and took over the full managed services mandate.
  • Cleaned up cloud infra, improved observability, and initiated proper documentation and asset management.

Key Takeaway

Trust is earned through capability and persistence.
Even without documentation or handover, we proved we could manage a production system with care and precision — and that’s how we won our first US managed services project.
